Archive of Modern Conflict Happy Tonite
As relations between China and the western world have opened up, the conventions, styles and points of view of international photography have become available to photographers in China and have been thoroughly digested. Each of the photographers presented in Happy Tonite has his or her individual and unique ideas and preoccupations, but collectively they can be seen to demonstrate and reflect a concerted move outside traditional Chinese boundaries and restrictions. The book attempts to capture the sense of vigour and self-awareness that characterises this younger generation of Chinese photographers.
